At the Y, we expect staff, members, and guests to behave in accordance with our mission and values, respecting the rights and dignity of others. We demonstrate respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty by:
Adherence to the above, along with the YMCA of Honolulu's Code of Conduct, Fitness Facility Guidelines, and adhering to the Pool Rules and Swim Test Policy (for those under 12 years old), is essential. Noncompliance may result in suspension or termination of YMCA membership privileges, program participation, and/or access to YMCA properties.
Tops and bottoms suitable for exercise must be worn in all workout areas, along with closed-toe and closed-heel shoes when using the weight room and fitness machines and equipment, and in certain group exercise classes as required.
Swimming attire that covers private parts must be worn when using pools. To keep swimmers safe and to protect pool filters, no street clothes, denim/cotton/mesh/workout shirts, or shorts may be worn in the pools.
Children Ages 12 & Under
Children ages 12 and under may not move independently through the facility. They must be accompanied by a supervising adult (18+) at all times or be enrolled in a YMCA staff-supervised program.
Youth & Teens Ages 13–17
Youth and teens ages 13–17 may use the facility only when participating in a scheduled YMCA activity or when using authorized supervised areas during designated open times. Youth and teens are required to follow the same Code of Conduct as adult members, as well as all rules, guidelines, and staff instructions for each area.
For additional details, please refer to Age Ranges for Using the Y.
Some YMCA branch locations provide free Child Watch with Y Family Membership during specified hours. Hours differ at each facility–find details.
Food and drink are not permitted in the workout areas or locker rooms, except water. Vending machines and eating areas are available at each location.
Friends and families are welcome at the Y! As a membership benefit, Y members can give complimentary 3-day guest passes to friends and family who are 13 years and older. Member's guests must register for their guest pass, check in at the Welcome Center with their picture ID, and be accompanied by the member when at the Y. Each of your guests is limited to 1 pass, which is good for 3 visits and expires 30 days after the issue date.
Lockers are available for rent or available for day use by members and guests. Bring your own lock and remove it at the end of each visit. Items left overnight will be removed from the locker room and placed in Lost and Found. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. To rent a locker, please sign up at the Welcome Center.
Your membership card is valuable and important. You must present it or scan in using the barcode on your YMCA Honolulu mobile app on your device each time you enter the building for access to the facility and when you register for special programs. Lost cards may be replaced for a nominal fee.
Members are REQUIRED to have their photo taken when they get their membership card made at their first visit.
No contract hassles! Payment options include Monthly Bank or Credit Card Draft or Annual Payment Plan.
Must provide 7 days advance written notice or online request submission prior to your last expected bank draft to cancel a monthly EFT membership.
The YMCA of Honolulu participates in the YMCA Nationwide Membership Program that allows active, full-facility YMCA members to visit any participating YMCA in the United States. That's more than 2,700 Ys across the country. Some restrictions apply, including:
Pets are not permitted on any YMCA of Honolulu property except for service animals.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines service animals as any guide animal, signal animal, or other animal that is trained to aid an individual with a disability. For example, some animals are trained to pull wheelchairs; others are taught to alert to the sounds of the telephone, oven timers, alarm clocks, smoke alarms, and even a baby’s cry. Service animals are not considered pets.
Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.
All YMCA facilities are smoke-free environments.
