Nationwide Membership

The YMCA of Honolulu participates in the YMCA Nationwide Membership Program that allows active, full-facility YMCA members to visit any participating YMCA in the United States. That's more than 2,700 Ys across the country. Some restrictions apply, including:

  • Nationwide membership is only valid for active, full-facility YMCA members.
  • Nationwide member visitors must use their home Y at least 50% of the time.
  • Program-only participants and special memberships are not eligible. (e.g., Silver & Fit, Active & Fit, Fit Rewards, Hawaii summer special memberships).
  • While more than 2,700 Ys participate in the Nationwide Membership program, there are a few YMCAs that do not participate. Please contact the YMCA you’d like to visit in advance to confirm participation.
  • The YMCA shares member data with Y-USA to conduct regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access.

Pets

Pets are not permitted on any YMCA of Honolulu property except for service animals.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines service animals as any guide animal, signal animal, or other animal that is trained to aid an individual with a disability. For example, some animals are trained to pull wheelchairs; others are taught to alert to the sounds of the telephone, oven timers, alarm clocks, smoke alarms, and even a baby’s cry. Service animals are not considered pets.

Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls.

Smoking

All YMCA facilities are smoke-free environments.
