March 16 - 24, 2024 (Optional sightseeing experience add-on: March 24 - 27, 2024)
The Philippines service trip is an intensive 9- to 12-day community service-learning program that’s designed to introduce participants to diverse communities and an array of important social issues. You conduct projects in partnership with organizations across the Philippines—past projects include restoring and improving a school, health clinics, and birthing clinics.
Your time will be spent:
For our 2024 Philippines Service Trip, the YMCA is proud to offer 8 spots to deserving cause-driven students for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Additional spots may be possible based on funding. Previous service projects have included restoring schools, community centers, and health clinics.
We are no longer accepting applications for the 2024 Philippines Service Trip. For questions, concerns or inquires, please email Jon at [email protected].
The YMCA of Honolulu may provide $600-800 in financial subsidies depending on the number of students participating. Subsidy awards are based on the student's participation in the Atherton Y's Annual Campaign, which raised funds for these and other community programs. YMCA staff members are not eligible for subsidies. Fundraising activities are also planned to help defray costs.
Work assignments normally involve strenuous physical activity. Team members must be in good physical health. Philippines Service Trip team members participate at their own risk.
All participants are required to attend and actively participate in planning meetings. Participants are to take a role in service activities and projects. Attendance for all meetings, trainings, and trip preparation are important and required unless excused by the Program Director.
